This is the Baltic Cable team - 20 dedicated colleagues that manages a vital piece of Europe’s energy system. Behind the cable are technical engineers, commercial specialists as well as legal and regulatory experts, who work side‑by‑side to deliver reliable capacity between Germany and Sweden. We are a small team with a big mission: to develop and operate cross-border interconnectors that support the energy transition, thereby strengthening Europe’s energy security and competitiveness.

Kajsa Hedberg
CEO
Kajsa Hedberg joined Baltic Cable in 2024. Kajsa has over twenty-five years of experience in the energy sector, having worked with business development, investments, change management, and corporate strategy. She has also been a member of several Board of Directors, among others at Energiföretagen Sverige, an industry association for companies that supply, distribute, sell, and store energy.
Annika Kleine
Legal & Regulatory Director
Annika Kleine joined Baltic Cable in 2019. Annika has more than twenty years of experience as a lawyer within the energy sector, having worked both as an in-house legal counsel in Sweden and Germany for one of the largest European energy companies as well as a lawyer in a well renowned law firm in Sweden.
Jan Brewitz
Technical Director
Jan Brewitz joined Baltic Cable in 2001. Jan has more than thirty years of experience in management and engineering within the energy sector, having worked with high voltage technology, power system analysis, research & development among others within the power industry before joining Baltic Cable.

Kaj Forsberg
Energy Market Expert
Kaj has over 25 years of experience within the energy sector and has worked at governmental authorities, agencies and also as a consultant - with a niche in electricity market design and regulation. With knowledge of both the Swedish and the European electricity market, Kaj’s task is to clarify Baltic Cable’s place in the continental energy puzzle.

With more than twenty-five years of experience, Annika has explored nearly every corner of the energy sector. She has held a wide range of strategic and public affairs roles across both private and public energy companies, working within the fields of electricity and district heating, and dealing with a broad spectrum of energy sources: from various forms of bioenergy and wind to hydro, gas and nuclear.
Christian Marling
Electricity Market Expert
Christian has dedicated his whole career to the energy industry. With a MSc in Engineering Physics, he started off as a project manager for wind power development and then moved on to different electricity and gas grid businesses. His expertise lies in analytical, financial and regulatory matters related to distribution and transmission of energy. Christian helps Baltic Cable navigate the complex regulatory landscape of the European energy market
Johanna K. Rugart
Senior Legal Counsel
Johanna has solid experience from her legal career at two of Sweden’s leading law firms, where she was also a partner at one of them. She is specialized in business agreements and procurement within the energy industry and has worked internationally with infrastructure developments, power plant projects, and municipal projects.

Karin has worked within the energy sector since 2010, and before that within the mobile and telecommunications industry. Having had roles in business, project and product management, strategy, marketing and communication, Karins expertise lies in building and driving projects and structure as well as effective and motivated teams.

Business and Investment Analyst
With a master’s degree in industrial engineering and management from Lund University, Arvid began his career as a Quantitative Analyst at one of Europe’s largest energy companies. His experience includes estimations of price forward curves in the Nordics as well as portfolio risk assessments.

Senior Accountant
Before joining Baltic Cable in 2019, Samantha – known as Sam – gained extensive experience in finance and accounting. She has worked across various industries, including shipping, the municipal sector, construction, manufacturing, and energy. It’s not the industry itself, though some are more interesting than others, but rather the nature of finance and accounting that makes Sam tick.

Paula began her journey at Baltic Cable in 2023. She previously worked 30 years within finance but always grabbed for assignments and projects outside of her role, making her an experienced Project Manager. When the role as half time Office Coordinator at Baltic Cable presented itself – Paula found a perfect fit.

Nils Nordtorp
Technical Coordinator & Procurement Manager
With a background in engineering and decades of hands-on experience in the energy sector, Nils Nordtorp has a key role in Baltic Cable’s technical operations. Since joining the company in 2010, he has coordinated complex repairs, managed offshore operations, and helped ensure the interconnector between Sweden and Germany runs with high reliability.
Fredrik Nathell
Station Manager in Sweden
Fredrik Nathell comes from three generations of electricians – with the next generation already in line. He has over thirty years of experience working with converter stations, mainly within rail traffic in both the private and public sectors.
Timo Jahnke
Station Manager in Germany
Timo Jahnke is an educated telecommunication and residential electrician and has dedicated his whole career to the electricity industry. As he rose in station, so did the voltage of his work: starting with housing electrics, moving on to industry projects and later 10kV stations, to finally end up at Baltic Cable with much higher voltages. Timo has worked for Baltic Cable as a contractor since 2005 and joined the team completely in 2023.

Björn Frid
Chief Security Officer
Björn has an extensive background in the Swedish Armed Forces as officer and chief security officer. He continued to work with security related matters at both energy companies and infrastructure institutions, before joining Baltic Cable in 2024, a smaller but equally critical piece of electricity infrastructure.
